The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported 75 new covid-19 deaths and 511 new cases Wednesday.
That brings the state’s total case count to 73,405, with 5,742 deaths.
The state considers 617 patients as probable cases, but they are not confirmed.
More than half of coronavirus cases in the state are in patients age 50 or older, with the most severe cases in patients over the age of 65, according to the Department of Health.
Nursing and personal care homes account for 15,752 cases among residents and 2,719 among employees. There have been 3,621 coronavirus deaths in nursing and personal care homes.
The virus has been found in more than 600 nursing facilities.
Health care workers account for 5,557 coronavirus cases.
Currently, 57 counties are in the yellow or green phase of Gov. Tom Wolf’s three-tiered reopening plan. The first 18 counties moved to the green phase Friday. Westmoreland and Allegheny counties are set to move to the green phase on Friday, the same day the remaining red counties will move to yellow.
