After almost averaging a double-double in his freshman season, West Virginia forward Oscar Tshiebwe is contemplating a move to the NBA.
Coach Bob Huggins said Tshiebwe plans to submit paperwork to request an evaluation from the NBA Undergraduate Advisory Committee. That doesn’t mean he will enter the draft this year and leave the Mountaineers, but it’s the necessary first step for the Kennedy Catholic graduate.
“Per NCAA rules, in order to gain feedback from people associated with the NBA, players are required to submit the necessary paperwork to request an evaluation,” Huggins said in a statement. “Oscar plans to do this while leaving open his option to return.”
Tshiebwe (6-foot-9, 250 pounds) started all 31 games as a West Virginia freshman, averaging 11.2 points and 9.3 rebounds per game.
A native of Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of the Congo, he was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team and was a unanimous selection to the All-Big 12 Freshman Team.
