‘Pennsylvania Pipes’ organ concert set for Saint Vincent Basilica

Three noted Pennsylvania organists will perform for the next installment of the Saint Vincent College Concert Series.

“Pennsylvania Pipes,” set for 7 p.m. Feb. 15 in Saint Vincent Archabbey Basilica on the Unity campus, will feature Donald Fellows, J. Christopher Pardini and Wesley Parrott.

Fellows is organist and director of music at Pittsburgh’s Saint Paul Cathedral and a faculty member of the University of Pittsburgh Department of Music. He is past chair of the Conference of Roman Catholic Cathedral Musicians, former dean of the Pittsburgh Chapel of the American Guild of Organists. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music from the State University of New York at Fredonia and studied at Cambridge Choral Studies Institute in Cambridge, England.

Pardini serves as organist and director of music at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral in Greensburg. He is a lecturer in the Saint Vincent College Department of Music and is a concert organist across the U.S. and abroad. He holds a bachelor’s degree in sacred music from Westminster Choir College in New Jersey and a master’s degree in organ performance and literature from the University of Rochester. He took first place in the 1998 San Marino Organ Competition in San Marino, Calif.

In Philadelphia, Parrott is organist at Philadelphia Episcopal Cathedral, liturgical musician at Saint Francis De Sales Roman Catholic Church and assistant organist on the Grand Court Wanamaker Organ at Macy’s City Center. He holds degrees from The Curtis Institute of Music, Sewanee: The University of the South and the University of Rochester. The winner of three U.S. national organ competitions, Parrott has performed at The Kennedy Center, Washington National Cathedral, Chartres Cathedral in France and in churches and cathedrals across England.

A ticket for “Pennsylvania Pipes” is $26; children 12 and under are admitted free.

A free meet-and-greet with the organists will follow the performance.
