Country music star Sara Evans has a catalogue of chart toppers to choose from when planning her live shows.
With two decades of recording behind her, she’s achieved five No. 1 singles, including “No Place That Far,” “Suds in the Bucket,” “A Real Fine Place to Start,” “Born to Fly” and “A Little Bit Stronger.”
She’s earned the Academy of Country Music Top Female vocalist as well as numerous American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, Country Music Association, CMT and Grammy Awards nominations.
When she takes the stage at Greensburg’s Palace Theater on Dec. 19, Evans will be in full holiday spirit.
“Sara Evans – Blue Christmas Tour” kicked off Dec. 5 in Huntsville, Ala., and concludes on Dec. 22 in Prior Lake, Minn.
Her 10-city tour will highlight 90 minutes of never-before-heard songs and arrangements.
Evans is expected to feature music from her 2014 album “At Christmas,” her first full-length Christmas recording.
The 10-song collection features well-known holiday classics including “Silent Night,” “Winter Wonderland,” “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” and “O Come All Ye Faithful,” in addition to the seasonal original song and title track, written by Shane Stevens and Toby Lightman.
Rolling Stone calls the number “At Christmas” a “bouncy ornament straight out of the Mariah Carey holiday songbook.”
Moving forward
Evans, 48, resides in Alabama with her husband, Jay Barker, and their children.
She grew up listening to a mix of country, pop and rock in her hometown of Boonville, Mo., her website states.
After joining the family band at age 5, she recalls making her first recording attempts as a teenager, and relocating to Nashville in 1991.
She has been open about her frustration with what she sees as a lack of airplay for some of her and other women country singers’ music, citing gender inequity.
Evans has launched her own label, Born to Fly Records, and released her ninth studio album, “Words.”
She also is working with her daughter, Olivia Barker, and son, Avery Barker, as part of a new project, The Barker Family Band, the name of an EP the three recorded.
Country trio Temecula Road will open for Evans on this tour.
The newly minted Nashville residents, sisters Emma and Maddie Salute and friend Dawson Anderson, chose the town they grew up in for their band name.
They have earned a reputation for their trademark harmonies and their covers.
The trio’s most recent release is “Never Knew I Needed You.”
