With an emphasis on shopping local, the United Way’s Westmoreland-Fayette Women’s Leadership Council and Westmoreland County Chamber of Commerce’s Women of Westmoreland will co-host “Shop and Share the Season.”
The Dec. 3 event kicks off at 3:30 p.m. in Ligonier, with about 15 specialty stores and boutiques extending their hours and offering shopping deals, giveaways and treats.
Beginning at 6 p.m., participants can head to Fort Ligonier’s Center for History Education for drinks and dinner catered by Carol and Dave’s Roadhouse.
“The initiative they (Women’s Leadership Council) fund is Open Your Heart to a Senior,” says Terri Dominick, corporate relations manager for the United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania.
The chamber’s Women of Westmoreland also co-hosted last year.
“It’s kind of a nice partnership. It’s a fundraiser and social/networking gathering,” Dominick says.
Among the merchants shoppers can visit are Betsy’s of Ligonier, Post and Rail Men’s Shop (with Vera Bradley products), Annalynn Boutique, Finishing Touch, Black Bunny Boutique, My HoneyBee, Holiday Home Store, Second Chapter Books and Ligonier’s Paws on Main Street.
“We are trying to get a few vendors into (Fort Ligonier), but we are trying to keep it a shop-local event. And the Fort’s gift shop will be open,” Dominick says.
Also this year, those attending are invited to donate a new hat, scarf or gloves for a woman or child to distribute at Greensburg’s Welcome Home Shelter during the winter months.
The event is open to the public. Tickets are $25, or $35 with a $10 donation to Open Your Heart to a Senior.
Registration is requested by Nov. 22.
