A Pittsburgh man was indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh this week after prosecutors say he attempted to rob a South Side bank while in a wheelchair.
U.S. Attorney Scott W. Brady said after the Aug. 13 robbery attempt, surveillance video showed Emanuel Luna, 54, using a cane to walk.
Prosecutors say when that when Luna went to the First National Bank at 1114 East Carson St., he handed a teller a note. It claimed that he had a bomb and “will press the button and kill us all for no less than $50,000.”
He then left the bank without receiving any money, officials said.
If convicted, Luna faces a maximum total sentence of 20 years in prison, a fine of not more than $250,000, or both.
