Once the news of Brady Hunker and Mollie Landman’s engagement broke, it didn’t take long for the young couple to exceed their wedding fundraising goal on GoFundMe.

As of 11 a.m. Wednesday, the amount raised was $17,673. The goal was $15,000.

Offers of assistance with the wedding also are coming in from individuals and organizations, the family said.

In a note on the “Cancer Teen Wedding Fund” page, Hunker, 17, of Mt. Pleasant Township wrote, “Thank you all so much for your support and generosity! It means the world to Mollie and I. Any additional funds given will be used to fulfill a ‘bucket list’ that Mollie and I have. We have a list of places around the country and around the world that we would love to visit together! Thank you again!”

Brady, a senior at Mt. Pleasant Area Senior High School, is in the midst of a three-year battle with Ewing sarcoma, a rare form of pediatric cancer that attacks the bones and surrounding tissues. He had a tumor removed from his right leg in 2016, but since then the cancer has returned.

Over Easter weekend, Brady announced his engagement to his high school sweetheart, Mollie Landman, 18, of West Newton, a senior at Yough Senior High School. Their plans for a July wedding prompted the GoFundMe campaign.

Donations also may be mailed to: Brady Hunker, c/o New Stanton Church, P.O. Box 320, New Stanton, PA 15672.
