Anna Shields has dominated the NAIA competition in track and field and cross country during her time at Point Park, and she added some more recognition for those accomplishments recently.

Sports Illustrated highlighted Shields in its “Faces in the Crowd” feature in the April 8 edition of the magazine, which hit newsstands last week.

The magazine mentioned Shields’ latest accomplishments: winning titles in the mile and 1,000 meters at the NAIA championships in late February and early March in Brookings, S.D. She set an NAIA record with her time of 2 minutes, 44.35 seconds in the latter and was named NAIA Indoor Athlete of the Year for the third time.

The 27-year-old Shields, a native of Torrington, Conn., also claimed NAIA national athlete of the year honors in cross country (2018), indoor track and field (2018) and outdoor track and field (2017 and 2018). She is a 13-time All-American and eight-time national champion.
